Mad Dat Motorsport have been hotting up Datsuns for around 15 years. Initially established by Craig Williams, in June 2007 Craig sold Mad Dat Motorsport to Scott Aho. Craig is still involved in Mad Dat with the manufacture of some items and continues to do some conversion work and roll cages.
The new Mad Dat office is located on a lovely 20 acre residential property in the Adelaide Hills and has plenty of ideas for expansion. A new workshop was built in early 2010 allowing more space for R&D.
Aside from producing kit-form products to mail to your door Mad Dat also do turn-key conversions, exhausts and other installation and custom fabrication work to most small cars for street or track. We're not a production-line manufacturer, we take pride in quality Australian-made parts, while offering a personalised aproach to each project we have in our workshop.
The business consists of Scott and his wife Tam and that’s just how they like it. |

ABOUT SCOTT
At 33 yo Scott is a cabinet maker/carpenter/builder by trade. Producing fine furniture in his younger years has given Scott a very keen eye for detail which also shows in one of his bigger milestones, designing and producing the luxury houseboat 'Aqua Dreaming'.
Scott has had an enthusiastic interest in Datsuns from the age of 12! With many projects behind him including 200B, 200B SSS, 1000 and 1200 Ute (x2) and even a little Austin that got the A15 treatment, purchasing the Mad Dat business was ideal to fuel his passion and creativity. Craig Williams and Scott became acquaintances when Scott engineered useful car parts for his own car and approached Craig to re-sell the parts in quantity. These parts are still being sold today.
Scott enjoys racing the Mad Dat promo car (1200 SR Ute) at Mallala Raceway and does the occasional Hill Climb event. Much R&D has come from giving the Datto a flogging on the track.
Scott is also a volunteer with the CFS (SA Country Fire Service). |

ABOUT TAM
Tamra manages the sales & marketing, accounting and web design while looking after their young children Diesel and Indy. Her background is in IT and sales and has quickly adapted to the technical nature of the car industry so don’t hesitate to throw some tricky questions her way.
Tam has a passion for sustainable and environmentally friendly living. We won't say your car parts will be carbon neutral, but we recycle car parts wherever we can, use as little chemicals as possible, green energy, recycled packaging where possible, and dispose of waste responsibly. Our approach to being environmentally friendly is Reduce, Reuse, Refuse, Recycle and Rethink. Perhaps one day we'll have a division of Mad Dat Electric. |
